Meet the Jewelry Artist/Designer 

Cheryl Skeens is a self-representing  jewelry artist and designer. Her virtual shops originate online from the metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri area.  She has a studio in her home where she designs and handcrafts her unique jewelry designs.  She operates a one-woman business handling all phases of her jewelry business herself enlisting help from her family members during busy seasons or large orders.

I am a self-taught jewelry artist, jewelry designer and studying wire artist. I have always been an arts and crafts person keeping my hands busy and experimenting with different ideas. My jewelry career began when I started making custom bracelets with letter beads and school colors to sell as a fund-raiser for my daughter’s winter guard team for traveling expenses. I was still working full-time in the corporate world and doing jewelry in my spare time.  My early selling  experience started with a table selling bracelets and expanded into a full jewelry booth at competitions and state championships for several years. Parents, students, and guests came back each year to see what I had on display and my custom jewelry business began. 

With the encouragement of my family and friends I continued designing and marketing my handcrafted beaded jewelry in 2001 on various auction sites and their web stores. In 2003, after some health issues, I left the corporate world and decided to design and handcraft beaded jewelry full-time and open my online business to show and sell my jewelry. I set up my first website, KC Bead Designs – Beaded Jewelry by Cheryl Skeens as my first virtual store site. In the following years I designed, set up and tried different blogs and website stores.  My newest additions to my jewelry business adventures are this blog, Cheryl’s Jewelry Blog, and my newest website store,  Cheryl’s Jewelry Expressions, Handcrafted Beaded Jewelry Designs and Wire Art Jewelry. 

In addition to my two virtual stores, I still do local festivals and shows. I am a proud one woman shop in the metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri area. I love stringing beads and working with wire is my latest passion. My job allows me to play with beautiful beads and create lovely jewelry for other people to wear and enjoy. Life is good!
